A Group Home for the Developmentally Disabled

Grand Ledge and Dewitt, Michigan

Home

Our Dewitt home for six developmentally disabled ladies is underway.  The property is located 1107 Turner Street,

Capital Campaign for ‘Chosen Vision – DeWitt!’

In the 2007-2011 Michigan Developmental Disabilities State Plan, it is estimated that 1.8 percent of Michigan ’s citizens have development disabilities.  That’s 182,175 individuals!  Yet, there are a limited number of residences available for these adults.  As longevity increases in our society, the housing needs of a growing population of developmentally disabled adults far exceed the resources available – and those available facilities tend to be secular in nature.

Chosen Vision offers a Christian alternative – a lifestyle grounded on biblically based Christian values and standards. The success of our first home in Grand Ledge has encouraged us to replicate this arrangement with a second home in the greater Lansing area, ‘Chosen Vision-DeWitt. ‘   Through a generous donation of a beautiful walkout building site and over $100,000 of in-kind construction donations, we have a good financial foundation in place.  But, our goal is to complete the construction of the home debt free!  The $550,000 budget for this home includes not just the lot (which has already been donated), but covers the cost of construction, furnishing, window treatments, and decorating, so that the home is “turnkey” for six (6) more very special residents in waiting.

God has been nudging our Board of Directors at Chosen Vision to build for the last five (5) years.  Through the gift of a beautiful lot in DeWitt, the generosity of our builder, Tom Motz, the pouring in of in-kind donations through his subcontractors, and nearly $150,000 in pledge donations, we have started the construction.

Amy Russell, one of our six residents at Chosen Vision–Grand Ledge, will eventually be moving into our new home in DeWitt once completed. She wrote the following and shared it with us at a fundraising breakfast held on November 9th:

“When I came to Chosen Vision I was the only resident here.  God sent me here to do my job to make this home more like Him.  He sent more residents and more staff to help out in this ministry.  God is in the making of opening up another home for Chosen Vision.  It is the DeWitt home for girls.  I am nervous about leaving our first home but God said that my work is not done yet.”

If you would like the opportunity to partner with us to make Chosen Vision-DeWitt a reality for Amy and five additional women, please feel free to call us at 517.622.0574 or designate your gift to “Chosen Vision – DeWitt.”
